God Bless America! Ain't no place like home!

For the first time in over 5 months I set foot on American soil. In a whirlwind trip lasting only 6 days I was able to see my brother Joey graduate from Auburn, attend a baby shower, a wedding shower, a 16th birthday party, and hang out with many of my favorite people from Charleston. It was everything I dreamed it would be - I was able to do so many things that I can't do in France, like drive my car and shop at Target! Anywho, here is a short synopsis of the fabulous time I had at home in Charleston.

I arrived in town late on a Tuesday, and hit the ground running. After a delicious home cooked meal at chez Kruse Tuesday night (yum!), I finally got to crash at about 4am Paris time. Wednesday morning Grandma treated me to delicious breakfast, and the rest of the day was spent running errands around town with Aunt Edith. It's amazing how much I can get done when accompanied by someone without ADD. Then Thursday, without skipping a beat, my family and I hoped on a plane to Auburn, Alabama to see Joey get his diploma.

Here's the new graduate with Mema and Papap, who drove up from Greenville:

We are literally the first to arrive at the stadium so we could snag the best seats. Here's Jordan, Alex, Jason, Papap, Dad, and Joey:

Congratulations Joey!! We're all so proud of you!

On Friday my girlfriends hosted a baby shower for Rachel, and I just showed up unannounced, surprising everyone. After many a tearful and cheerful embrace, we toasted, opened gifts for little Isabella Grace, and continued to drink wine into the wee hours of the morning. It was wonderful!

On Saturday we set up for Bayne's wedding shower. Here are all of the old B.E. girls on the deck at Dr. Roe's, who was kind enough to lend us his house to host the event. I love this beautiful Lowcountry view!

Later on that night we celebrated Claire's sweet 16 overlooking the Charleston Harbor at Seabreeze Marina. Here's a shot of Janie and the birthday girl cutting a rug on the dance floor.

Before I knew it, it was time to head back to Paris, but not without enjoying one last delicious meal at the Harvey's. By the end of the week I was missing Josh pretty bad and ready to get back to France. It was a perfect week being home in Charleston though. Thank you to everyone for making it such a special trip!! Miss and love you all!!
